In last weeks video (part 1) I talked about the number 1 technical fundamental to the forehand as well as the 1 handed and 2 handed backhand. I discussed how there are several dozen parts to the forehand and backhand technique however most players work on things that are simply not fundamental or are just too advanced for their level. Most of the time players focus on secondary problems to their technique or symptoms of the REAL issue. This is because players don’t have the knowledge of the most important aspects to the forehand and backhand. Players watch something on YouTube or hear a tennis commentator talk about what a pro does and they apply it in their next practice as if it’s a one size fits all thing. The truth is most players have very poor fundamentals. Most players don’t even know the fundamentals and even if they did they often don’t have the awareness if there doing it right or not. In fact, some have told me they got it right until I prove to them in a slow motion video. You need to know what the primary issue is with your technique and focus on that and ONLY that until it becomes a habit. It’s silly to work on other things if you don’t even have the most important parts of the stroke down. I’d say in many cases it’s even a waste of time because if you don’t have the technical fundamental from last weeks video in addition to this videos fundamental then you just won’t have much of anything. If you don’t have the key fundamentals then that will create a domino effect of problems and poor technique. Again, in this video you’ll see the 2nd fundamental (I recommend watching last weeks video first- see below in this description for the link to that video) to the groundstrokes technique. You’ll see slow motion footage of the forehand as well as the 1 and 2 handed backhand. You’ll hear my voice overlaying this footage, explaining clearly and undoubtedly what you NEED to improve power, spin, depth, contact point, timing and much, much more.
