Qatar: A growing threat to American sovereignty

For years, Qatar, a strong supporter of Iran, has been trying to influence and promote its Anti-Democratic ideology by funding militant extremist organizations in the Middle East. Recently, they have shifted their gaze to the Western World. The Qatari government is funding top academic institutions, news outlets, and influencers. In 2018, Georgetown University in DC received 33 Million dollars from Qatar. Nobody knows what that money was for.
Some security experts and contributors at CNN have direct – and undisclosed – financial ties to Qatar. Is it just a coincidence that the outlet is more forgiving of Qatar's anti-American and anti-democratic regime?
Is Qatar actually buying influence in the Nation's capital?
Fortunately, there are those who cannot be bought. But who Qatar can't buy, they attack. From 2014 to 2018, they launched an unprecedented wave of cyber-attacks on their critics. According to Investigative Journal publications, Qatar has cyber attacked more than 1,400 high-status and ordinary citizens who were exercising their right to free speech in democracies across North America, the Middle East, and the world. They intimidated Amjad Taha Yassin, a Britain based journalist that opposes Qatar policy, with an alleged sex scandal. They also hacked and leaked the emails of another ardent critic of Qatar and the former finance chairman of the Republican National Committee, Elliott Broidy.
Worse still, A Qatari official has even allegedly tried to assassinate two American citizens who he viewed as "threats to his social reputation." How much further will they go in their attack against the US?
Qatar's reach is growing, and they will stop at nothing to distract people from their misdeeds by polluting cornerstones of our democracy by compromising journalists, attacking political fundraisers, and by infringing on the privacy of American citizens, including employees of the CIA.
We cannot allow Qatar to continue to win the war against free speech through intimidation of those who stand for – and protect – our core values.
