While formulating the idea of what would later be the foundations of Geekwire, John Cook was planning what would later become the genesis of the first community event to bring the tech community together. It first took flight under one of the early iterations called TechFlash under the SBJ at their annual BBQ and Ping pong tournament started in 2009. With Geekwire they made a few tweaks which really blew up within the community and known today as the Geekwire Bash.
