Ingrown toe nail- non surgical treatment

Ingrown toe nail- non surgical treatment If you've ever had an ingrown toenail you know exactly how painful they can be.

Sometimes in clinic we're able to make them much more comfortable with a non-surgical general podiatry treatment like this one. However, because the nail is growing in a curved shape it is likely to need repeated maintenance care treatment to keep it comfortable.

A more permanent solution is a nail surgery procedure, using a local anaesthetic to numb the toe. We then remove about 2 to 3 mm of nail from the side where it's actually causing the problem. We apply a chemical to the nail Matrix the area (where the nail cells grow from) to stop that part of the nail growing in the future. Its a highly successful procedure. You might have seen some videos on the toe bro YouTube channel, showing how it's done:-

Essentially; the ingrown toenail is acting as a foreign body that's irritating the toe. Both The non-surgical and surgical procedures remove the nail splinter that is digging into the toe and causing it to be painful.
