Pastures of Plenty - Woody Guthrie Cover - Jez Quayle

Pastures of Plenty - Woody Guthrie Cover - Jez Quayle This great Woody Guthrie song describes the travails and dignity of migrant workers in North America in the 1930s and 40s. It is evocative of the world described in John Steinbeck's 'The Grapes of Wrath'. The tune is based on the ballad "Pretty Polly," a traditional English-language folk song from the British Isles that was also well known in the Appalachian region of North America.
Woody Guthrie played a C chord shape almost the entire way through his recording of this song. This sounds a little odd in places – particularly at the end of the first and last lines of each verse. For this reason, other players have used additional chords. The chords I play here are those used by Woody’s good friend and musical collaborator, Cisco Houston, in his recording.
