50% Hike in Phone Tariff: What it Means for Consumers & Telcos | The Quint Prepaid users be prepared to shell out more for your mobile phone bills because we just got what probably is the biggest tariff increase in India’s telecom industry since 2016.

Starting December 3, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea will have increased rates for both mobile calls and internet by 50 percent across plans.

While Reliance Jio will roll out its new plan will on December 6 with a hike 40 percent.

This comes as the telecom companies have been facing losses while facing an added burden of Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) to pay to the government.

Will these hikes solve the problems of the ailing telecom sector?
