Why Should I Tune My Guitar So Often?

Why Should I Tune My Guitar So Often? In this video you will learn the reasons why you need to tune your guitar so often.

Times you should tune your guitar:
1. Every time before you practice
2. If you are practicing longer than 30 minutes you should tune every 30-60 minutes
3. While performing I sometimes tune in the middle of a song or between songs

The environment, weather, air pressure, humidity affect the guitar's tuning by the wood of the guitar will shrink or expand under different environmental conditions.

The other reason the guitar goes out of tune is because the strings will stretch over time. New strings stay tight longer than old strings and with old strings you will have to tune them more frequently.

Even if you don't play the guitar the natural life of the string is it will stretch and will go out of tune over time.

If the strings don't stay in tune or if you do tune the guitar and then play a chord down on the guitar neck it sounds out of tune then it is time to change the strings. If the strings can't stay in tune down on the neck of the guitar while playing a chord, even after you tune the strings then the strings should be changed.
