“Nanak chinta mat karo, chinta tis hi hay”
(Translation: O Nanak, don’t be anxious. Lord will take care of you.)
To travel to Pakistan, to visit the historical site Kartarpur Sahib via the Kartapur Corridor, you have to register yourself in the website below

To fill the registration form, you require a valid Indian passport and soft copy of your passport size photograph. It takes about 10-15 minutes to fill in this form. You have to indicate the date of journey in this process. 2-4 days before the date of journeym you will get a SMS on your registered mobile and your email. You will have to click on the link to go to the website, fill in your registration number and passport number and download the ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization). Your passport, a printout of your ETA and USD20 (about INR 1,500) are a must to travel to Kartapur Sahib.
I would recommend that you get the dollars exchanged from your city or bank, so that you can save time on the Pakistan side and get better rates exchanging the currency. Unless you plan to purchase something in Pakistan (donation, food, mementos, etc), you do not have to carry or exchange and carry Pakistani currency.
There are no proper boarding facilities in Dera Baba Nanak, where the Kartapur Corridor starts. So please make arrangements for stay in Amritsar, which is the nearest city to Dera Baba Nanak. Amritsar is 50 km from the Passenger Terminal and in the morning, by taxi, it takes about 60 to 90 minutes to reach the terminal. Make sure you have transport for the return journey also. If you hire a cab from Amritsar, for full day you would expected to pay around INR 1,800 to INR 2,200.
Immigration is open from dawn to dusk. However, it is recommended that you report to the immigration before 10.00 a.m. and return by 5.00 p.m after your visit to gurudwara.
Before the immigration, remember to fill a Customs Clearance Form (yellow coloured form which is available at the immigration) and present it to the Immigration Officer with your Passport and ETA. Your passport won’t be stamped. But remember to carry your ETA, till you return to the Indian side.
Do not carry any restricted items mentioned in the website above. You can carry your smart phones, camera (both still and video), drinking water and eatables if you wish. You can carry up to 7 kgs. Except at the immigration counters, you are allowed to photograph everywhere.
Immigration on the Indian side is a simple procedure. There were no questions asked. You photograph and thumb impressions are taken and thenu you proceed for the security check. Only your handbags are passed through the security scanner. You can carry your phone and camera in your hand. The third stage is the administration of polio drops.
After this, you wait in the waiting zone. You are transported to the Indo-Pak border on a golf cart. You can walk and cross the gates and reach Pakistan! It is as simple as that. Th soldiers in Pakistan warmy greet you and in another golf cart, you are transported to the Pakistan Immigration Centre, which is half a kilometre away. On the right side of the immigration centre, there are booths, where you can exchange your rupees for US dollar or Pakistani rupees. This process will take 5 to 10 minutes.
Then you proceed to the immigration centre, which resembles a gurudwara front outside. Again the immigration process is simple, but keep your papers and passport handy. Once the immigration clears you, you are handed over a ‘Darbar Sahib Kartarpur Yatree’ badge (yellow colour), which you have to wear around your neck till you come back to Pakistan Immigration Centre after your visit to Kartarpur Sahib.
You will be taken to Kartarpur Sahib in a low floor bus from here. The bus travels around 4 km on an elevated four lane road and both sides of this road are fenced. You can see vast expanses of fertile agricultural land on both sides. There is River Ravi which flows across this land and in 10-12 minutes, you will be dropped in front of the reception area on Kartarpur Sahib.
The last security check happens here. You have to alight from the bus, stand in a queue and you are cleared in less than 5 minutes!
And finally you are at Darshan Deori! Waheguru!
