In response to MP Liang Eng Hwa's query in Parliament on 4 November 2019 on the impact of the ban of e-scooters from footpaths on food delivery services, Minister of State for Transport Lam Pin Min replied that they had been engaging with the major food delivery companies, who shared that less than 30% of deliveries were done using PMDs. The Ministry of Transport (MOT) would also be encouraging the food delivery companies to switch to motorcycles or bicycles. For riders who are not able to make the switch, he added that MOT would work together with the companies and WSG to find alternatives for them.
