Church chosen for his experience and network of NRL coaches and players

The recommendation of Matthew Church to get the job of SP PNG Hunters Coach was done by an independent committee.

Matthew Church has been given 18 months by the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League to bring in a succession plan for local coaches in the Digicel Cup, to lift their level of coaching if a local coach is to Coach the Hunters in future.
