Gugulethu Shutdown | Gender-Based Violence and gangsterism a concern in the area

Morning Live's Leanne Mana is in Gugulethu just outside of Cape Town. The name is a contraction of Igugu Lethu, which is Xhosa for 'Our Pride'. The township was established in 1958 and was originally named Nyanga West.

The township's population has grown significantly over the years and today this community are still facing many challenges that organizations like the Gugulethu Development Forum are trying address.One of the concerns highlighted is the high rate of Gender- Based Violence.
