Once the protagonist was released from the hospital, Yuuri decided that he still needed her help. So she started visiting his home more often to cook his meals. Eventually he develops feelings for her and confesses his feelings, to which she turns him down. Eventually, he finds out about her illness. While shocked by the information, his resolve hasn't changed. He stated that he wants to focus on their time together in the present, without worrying about how much time they have left together. So they start dating.
As time goes on, the protagonist starts to feel like he needs to help her get treatment. He tries to convince her to get help, but she seems utterly convinced she is doomed to die and that fate cannot be altered.
To help the protagonist not feel lonely when Yuuri is away for treatments or has to stay in the hospital, she provides an AI version of herself (with a copy of her memories from a brain scan) to him. Over time, he unwittingly starts to spend more time with the virtual YUURI. Yuuri herself then starts to feel neglected and lonely and starts to regret that she gave him a perfectly healthy version of herself. While real Yuuri acts depressed and refuses treatments constantly, virtual YUURI is happy and will not die, and he unknowingly starts to prefer that.
Eventually this leads to them effectively breaking up. And that is where our clip begins here. The protagonist goes out to the beach one night to be greeted by Hanako, who mentors him about his conflicted feelings and his situation with both Yuuri's. At this time he realizes his actual feelings towards YUURI and rushes home.
When he confronts virtual YUURI, to his surprise she confesses to him. However, he turns her down, stating that their relationship would be built around a servant-master relationship, since being an AI she is programmed to make him happy. They never argue or disagree, which in his eyes would not be a real relationship or a real love.
With that settled, his final task is to confront real Yuuri herself. He meets her at her home and she's still upset with him. However, he eventually convinces her to meet him at the beach at dusk. Here, he reveals his feelings to her and that he returned YUURI back to Sara. He also honestly tells Yuuri his feelings without holding back: He wants her to get treatment.
After a long bit of arguing, the scene gets very emotional as Yuuri starts to realize how important her life and their relationship is, and agrees to undergo treatment.
