Potholes problems in Mumbai | Will Citizens in Mumbai keep dying due to Potholes?

Potholes problems in Mumbai | Will Citizens in Mumbai keep dying due to Potholes? BMC keeps that it is working hard to ensure trouble-free shuttle for the Mumbaikars but the fact remains that there isn't much change on the ground level till date.

It was been raining in Mumbai and in suburbs for the past many days but instead of getting comfort, Mumbaikars are extremely troubled with potholes that put some holes on various roads in the city and suburbs.

Last Month in August, Ravi Raja, leader of opposition in BMC tweeted: "The BMC has received 1,578 potholes complaints in last 30 days. This is a shame for the administration. But now BMC must study and analyse the data and compare it with previous data if any to identify bad to worst patches so that at least next people will not have to suffer."

There are almost 17,200 pothole complaints registered only for Mumbai in 2019. Out of these complaint numbers the BMC has taken action only on 3,500 complaints. "Clearly the civic body isn't proactive," says Congress leader Ravi Raja.

The Opposition attest that BMC being one of the richest civic bodies of Asia which spends nearly Rs 2,000 crore every year on making new roads but even after spending so much the results on the ground aren't as per the expected standards. Potholes emerge every year during the monsoons even after repair work conducted by the BMC.

Mumbaikars have now taken upon themselves the task to fill potholes. Mushtaq Ansari and Irfan Machiwala of Pothole Warriors, an NGO, claim to have fixed around 343 potholes since last year. The duo said this year alone they have filled 39 potholes in several parts of the Mumbai city.

The quality of the mixture used by the BMC is tampered and mixed with concrete gravels which doesn't settle in the potholes. There is no supervision of the road engineers as well, claim the duo.

Now the biggest question is, Who will do it?
You or BMC?
