Artifacts made from extinct Eastern Elk remains found at James Fort

Artifacts made from extinct Eastern Elk remains found at James Fort Three artifacts likely made from modified Eastern Elk remains have been found in early James Fort features ca. 1610. This Elk species went extinct in the 19th century largely due to over hunting. Two of the objects were Virginia Indian in manufacture and it is possible the Elk antler came to the colonists through trade.
