Precision balances are designed to measure static loads only. The weight sensor of a precision balance, regardless of its manufacturer, breaks in a short period if it is continuously affected by loads with acceleration (i.e. impact shocks). This typically occurs in factories where materials are placed roughly by machines or thrown by operators onto balances. In addition, impact shocks can easily shift values and cause errors. The difficulty is that even if you know the above, you may not know what degree of impact shock is safe or unsafe for the balance to take necessary preventive measures such as refining the automatic loading mechanism.
You should always avoid mechanical shock to any weighing device and especially high precision laboratory balances. Watch you to place items on the weighing platform of the A&D GX-4002A correctly and the wrong way that can break your balance.
The A&D Weighing Apollo GX-A / GF-A Balances are so intelligent it is designed with a function to detect impact to the mass sensor and will show the impact level on the balance's display.
A&D calls this feature Impact Shock Detection (ISD). It provides Impact-Alert visually & audible indicates the magnitudes of impact shocks. In addition there is shock-log documents date, time, and shock level.
By lowering the impact level at the time of loading, it is possible not only to alleviate variation in the weighing value but also to reduce the risk of failure of the mass sensor section.
Especially when incorporating the balance in a production line, etc. and weighing by means such as an automated system, impact to the sensor may be applied greater than expected. When designing automatic systems and the like, it is recommended that you minimize the impact level as much as possible while checking the shock indicator.
The display features a shock indicator bar graph to warn you. The GX-A/GF-A series visualizes the magnitudes of impact shocks that the weight sensor receives at four levels. It beeps once at Level 3 and twice at Level 4 (both of which should be avoided).

Recording impact history occurs for impact level 3 or higher and are stored in the balance memory with data and time included (maximum 50 data instances). When the password lock function is on (Lock 1 or Lock2 ), the login user information is added when outputting the impact history. (Balance software version 1.211 or later.)

The weight sensor is well protected against vertical and transverse static overloading. It won't break due to malfunction of the weighing system's actuator and the resulting excess load. A&D's testing demonstrated that even a human did no damage to the balance by stepping on it.
