IDENTIFIED: The Belle in the Well aka Louise Virginia Peterson Flesher

On July 29th 2019 representatives of the Lawrence County Coroner's Office and the DNA Doe Project announced that after 38 years the "Belle in the Well" had been identified. Her name was Louise Virginia Peterson Flesher and in 1979-1980 she would have been 64 or 65 years of age.

Sadly, little in the way of hard information was available about Louise's life. What little was known was revealed at a press conference in Ironton, Ohio on 7/29/2019.

Born: Kanawha County, WV on June 16th 1951
Moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming by 1930
Married Donald Flesher in Cheyenne, Wyoming around 1935
Had 3 daughters
Returned to WV/OH area around 1944.
Lived in Parkersburg, WV until at least 1957
Activity between 1957-1979-80 Uncertain

Even with a general sketch of Louise's life authorities now face the daunting challenge of tackling a cold case that has spanned nearly 4 decades. Also saddening, it was revealed that Louise's family has become estranged over the years and do not wish to participate in the investigation.
