Public Service Rule Essential For Efficient Civil Service: Oyo-Ita

Public Service Rule Essential For Efficient Civil Service: Oyo-Ita The Public Service Rule, PSR, was established long before Nigeria's independence, created as laws guiding the conduct of public as well as civil servants, for the effective and efficient performance of their jobs.

Based on the tenets of its creation, it is bound to be reviewed every five years so as to strengthen as well as weed out obselete, old fashioned and impracticable laws while maintaining globally acceptable practices.

Speaking at the conclusion of a three day forum, set aside to review the Nigerian Public Service Rules, the Head Of Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita stressed on the need for regular revision of the PSR as it is essential for repositioning the service for better productivity.

Mrs Oyo-Ita however gave a statistical breakdown on the feedback received by both public and civil servants, regarding the Public Service Rules.

The 3-day forum held with stakeholders from the Federal Civil Service, Commissions, Parastatals, Agencies as well as Labour Unions.
