A huge manta ray swam up to a diver and asked him to remove the fishing hook that was stuck below its eye.

Jake Wilton was swimming off Ningaloo Bay in Australia when the aquatic animal, known locally as ‘Freckles’, swam over to him.

The amazing footage shows the manta ray, who recognised Jake, 30, from being an underwater photographer and guide in the area, swimming over to him specifically.

Spreading her wings wide to allow the best access, Jake is finally able to remove the hook after several attempts.
