Form is a term used to describe the structure of a musical piece, it uses the language of Music Theory, but this time it actually gives you musical results.
In this course we're going to check out Functional Harmony, which is a system that categorises Chords into their unique "functions".
This allows you to build chord progressions that evoke specific emotions, it creates a story in which you're the writer, you can steer the story into any direction depending on the mood you want to create.
The course consists of two different parts, in the A part you'll learn about the fundamentals; scales and chords. You'll also learn some chords that might be completely new to you, such as augmented, diminished and the various types of 7th chords.
After that, now that you speak the language, we start talking about how to use the language, this is the part that is often lacking in conventional music theory courses.
In this B part we learn how to take these techniques and use them to create exciting and compelling chord progression.
We'll talk about Non-Diatonic Chords, Neapolitan Chords, Augmented 6th chords, and a whole bunch of fancy terms, but all within a practical context, focused on how chords behave (function) inside your song.
