In today's video, I give you 3 Pro level vertical jump drills to help you instantly increase your vert! These simple vertical jump drills are super easy to implement for players at every level. By implementing these drills into your basketball workouts you can almost immediately skyrocket your vertical jump, and add some serious inches to your overall athleticism!
The first drill is step ups, this drill is great for athletes at every level. It works on really engaging your lower body while also training you to work on those fast twitch muscle fibers that are so important to a player overall athleticism! This is a drill that some of the top NBA pros use to really work on their vertical jump. Think of guys like Russell Westbrook and Dennis Smith Jr. both guys are some of the most explosive athletes in the NBA and a major reason for that is because they do a great job of working on their jumping technique and implementing that into their workouts. The great thing about this drill is that you can literally do it from anywhere all you need is something to step up on. A ton of players do this on a park bench or on a staircase in their own house. Make sure you use step ups to really become the most explosive jumper you can be.
My 2nd drill to really help you be the most explosive basketball player you can be is depth broad jumps! This is one of my all-time favorite drills to really increase your vertical jump without having to put a ton of wear and tear on your joints. It's a really good low impact vert exercise that is working on all of the things you need to really jump higher like quick contact time with the ground. I promise you that if you really hone in the technique on this drill it can dramatically help you jump more efficiently. Basketball more then ever is truly becoming a game where athleticism is almost a prerequisite to making sure you are optimizing your vertical with this exercise.
My last vertical jump training exercise is one that really works on your approach! Your approach is arguably one of the most important keys to increasing your vertical jump. The 1-2 step drill will truly help you optimize your approach which will automatically help you jump higher!
