Strangely, you can’t open the chest while you’re invisible so the only way to return to normal is by going through the pipes underground. After turning back to normal, go back to where you found the key and open the Gray Chest. Inside the chest is the right piece of The Colorless Mountain Slate. If you collect the other piece at The Peaceful Village, you’ll open the way to the Desert Ruins.
