Schumer: Trump was ‘ill-prepared’ for infrastructure meeting and blew it up as a ‘way to back out’

Schumer: Trump was ‘ill-prepared’ for infrastructure meeting and blew it up as a ‘way to back out’ Senate Minority Leader Sen. Charles Schumer said Thursday President Trump was not prepared for their infrastructure meeting on Wednesday and “concocted a temper tantrum” to get out of it.
“We want to do [infrastructure] and he’s incapable of it. What happened yesterday – in my judgment – is that they were so ill-prepared and afraid to say how they would pay for infrastructure that they looked for a way to back out,” the New York Democrat said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” show.
Mr. Schumer said Mr. Trump is an “erratic, Helter-Skelter, get-nothing-done president” who “doesn’t have real accomplishments.”
He warned the president can’t get re-elected without having any legislative victories, adding the real “cover-up” is “they can’t get anything done.”
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders denied Mr. Schumer’s allegations, telling the CNN the president intended to stay but “calmly” said he could not work with Democrats due to their House investigations.
Mr. Trump canceled talks after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday that Democrats “believe that the president of the United States is engaged in a cover-up.”
A visibly disgusted Mr. Trump responded with an impromptu White House press conference where he said he won’t work with Democrats while they are seeking to impeach him and continue their “phony investigations.”
The president criticized Democrats this morning for trying to get “a Re-Do of the Mueller report” and said, “The Democrats have become known as THE DO NOTHING PARTY.”
