Audi S4: range is electrified with a semi-hybrid diesel engine, more innovative The S models of Audi opt for diesel and electrification. This formula, unthinkable a few years ago, also reaches the Audi S4 as well as its family body variant, the Audi S4 Avant. The mechanical configuration is acceptable between consumption and / or emissions with performance, the 48 volt main electrical system combined with an electrically driven compressor is key. Under the hood of the new Audi S4 diesel is a 3.0 V6 TDI engine with 300 hp and 700 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is associated with a Tiptronic eight-speed automatic gearbox and a quattro all-wheel drive system. With the EPC and the 48 volt system the system can reach a maximum power of 350 HP. Thanks to this mechanics, the Audi S4 is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in only 4.8 seconds while the Audi S4 Avant completes the sprint in 4.9 seconds. In both cases the maximum speed is limited to 250 km / h. With this mechanical assembly, the saloon body model sets CO2 emissions of 161-163 g / km, while the Avant family variant increases these figures to 164 - 164 g / km, respectively. The MHEV 48 volt system that incorporates the new Audi S4 V6 TDI consists of an electric motor connected to the crankshaft that serves as alternator and starting engine. The lithium ion battery has a capacity of 10 Ah and is located on the floor of the trunk. During braking, it is able to recover up to 8 kW of electrical energy.
